DICTATOR smoke detectors and hold-open systems

Safety is the highest priority in fire protection. Therefore fire rated doors in buildings have to comply with a lot of requirements. If they should stay open a hold-open system with components tested according to the respective European standards is indispensable.

The basic hold-open system consists of smoke or temperature detectors, electro magnets and a power pack.

DICTATOR produces all these components. They can be combined with a large variety of other products. The DICTATOR smoke detectors RM 2000 have been tested according to the EN 54, part 7 standard, the magnets to the EN 1155:2003 standard.

Function: If a certain level of smoke density or temperature is exceeded a potentialfree relay contact opens in the detector interrupting the power supply to a magnet, a doorcloser or a door operator, so that the fire-rated door is closed immediately.

The RM/WM 2000 detectors are equipped with a second relay contact (either NO or NC).

DICTATOR electro magnets – tested according to EN 1155:2003
DICTATOR electro magnets have been tested according to the EN 1155:2003 standard. They are approved for the use with door closers up to force 7.

The magnets are produced in a large variety of designs taking into account the large variety of different applications: with or without connection terminals, IP 65 rated, ex-proof design, with mounting plate, with mounting bracket, with casing for floor installation, for flush mounting and so on. The standard rated voltage is 24 VDC. However it is possible to supply them with other voltages such as e.g. 12 VDC, 48VDC, 230VDC/AC.

DICTATOR Signal Control Unit S400 - tested according to EN 14600:2005
The EN 14600:2005 point 4.9.2.1 stipulates an optical and acoustic signal every time a fire protection door closes – also during a power failure.

The DICTATOR signal control unit is used instead of a standard power pack. It provides the required 24VDC to the components of the hold-open installation. In addition it supplies the signal unit (sirene and flash light) with current even during a power failure. The signal unit is always activated when the power supply to the hold-open device is interrupted – for an adjustable time, minimum however until the door is closed.
