Intrinsically safe power supply for the hazardous area

The isolator IS pac product family of R. STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH has been expanded with the Type 9143 intrinsically safe power supply. The power supply allows intrinsically safe power supply to field devices installed in Zones 1 and 2. Compared with the conventional solution with safety barriers, this power supply can be used in particular in conjunction with field devices with a higher power demand. Field devices, such as 3 or 4-wire measuring transducers, solenoid valves, light barriers, controllers and operating terminals, are typical devices covered by the broad range of application.
The variants of the power supply offered cover the range from around 4 V to over 17 V output voltage. The stable, intrinsically safe output voltage can be set conveniently with a potentiometer on the device front panel.
As is conventional on intrinsical safe isolators, the output is galvanically isolated from the power supply. Either 24 V AC/DC or a broad voltage range from 85 to 250 V AC can be used as the power supply. This allows easy use of the power supply in an extremely wide variety of power supply systems worldwide and thus facilitates planning of automation projects.
As is the case on all IS pac isolators, interchangeable terminals of screw design, spring-clamp design or insulation-displacement design can be used for connection, thus covering all conventional connection techniques. Power supply 9143 of R. STAHL Schaltgeräte GmbH features a compact design with a width of only 35.2 mm.
It can be mounted in a time-saving manner by clipping on to flat or high DIN rails.
The intrinsically safe power supply 9143 is marked with e II (2) G [Eel ib] IIC/IIB.
