High-Speed Turbo Roll-up Doors / Turbo Roll-up Door / High-Speed Doors for safety and stability in extremely windy conditions

EFAFLEX presented its High-Speed Turbo Roll-up Doors at the Hanover Trade Fair, by emphasising its speed, safety and stability in extremely windy conditions. EFAFLEX engineers have developed an ingenious new feature for the doors, which have a speed of nearly 4.0 m/sec. The Active Crash System (ACS) is the most intelligent, modern and reliable door of its kind when it comes to avoiding damage caused by accidental collision.

As we all know: Bulky goods restrict visibility when manoeuvring in the door area. Pressures to meet deadlines, stress or just plain carelessness can all contribute to accidental damage. Even the quickest and safest door in the world can do little to prevent a collision between door and forklift truck. The technician then has to be called to repair the door and one can't help but wish for a "self-repairing" High Speed Door. EFAFLEX has picked up this idea, after studies showed that over 85% of all collisions involve the lower part of the door.

This is where ACS comes in: the lower four-panels of the door leaf, including the closing edge is equipped with a crash-out function. The door leaf guide is fitted with a "two part" hinge strap up to a nominal height of 900mm. These straps are easily detachable so that the door leaf can be displaced through the inner hinges in case of "an accidental crash" from either side, whilst the outer hinges continue to protect lateral control of the door fabric. Automatic sensors activate the electrically pre-programmed "crash-mode" control. The door leaf is slowly raised. Just before it reaches the top, the door leaf has to pass through a return mechanism installed on both sides. The inner and outer hinges are automatically reconnected. An electronic check-up system ensures that the door is running correctly and switches over to regular automatic functioning by closing the door.

There is also an optional manual reconnection feature, e.g. using a key-protected key switch.

The smarter one gives in: This 'self-repair' is carried out automatically in one cycle. The door is normally ready to be reused within a matter of seconds!
ACS is fitted in combination with the Efaflex patented TLG door protection system. Conventional connecting brackets and spiral cables for the safety edge supply are no longer necessary. So! If it's not there – it can't go wrong.
Summary: For the first time anywhere in the world the innovative crash technology ACS combines active and highly effective accidental collision protection with high speed opening and closing as well as stability under high wind loads. The combination of RTRS-L, with ACS and TLG makes this the only product of its kind on the market. Uneconomical waiting times, long-winded repairs and infuriating arguments with the insurance company can now hopefully be avoided.
