More than just a software update
Sensor specialist and networking provider Balluff has added two innovations to the line of vision sensors. A free software update is available from their homepage www.balluff.de which upgrades the proven BVS-E sensor to a BVS-E Standard type. The other addition is the BVS-E Advanced model, a vision sensor in the premium segment. Compared with the Standard version it offers additional exclusive functions and is designed for users with especially demanding applications.
The free update to Version 1.2 of the Convis software includes significant improvements and numerous enhancements. The Inspection Explorer and online help have been made even more clearly structured and informative. The user now has more than twice as many program slots for storing setup parameters, a feature that is especially useful when there are frequent format changes. And the show-stopper: All the inspections from earlier versions can be easily loaded into the new one and used as before. A special zoom function and shortcuts now enable more precise setting of the tools. In addition to a rectangular region of interest, a round, rotatable one can also be selected. In addition, the user has four different modes for inspection changing to choose from. Also useful is the ability to increase the built-in light output by approx. 30%. This reduces the ambient light sensitivity and opens up a variety of new applications. Up to 100 images per inspection can be stored, which in turn simplifies problem handling in especially critical applications.
The new Balluff BVS-E Advanced Vision Sensor is a real multi-talent in the premium sector. For a modest price increase it offers not only all the functions of the Standard version, but also features a new 480 MHz processor which enables even faster parts throughput. Other exclusive new features include 360° pattern detection which allows objects with varying rotational positions. Image resolution can be adjusted in three levels to provide additional calculating power for a higher inspection rate. Different tools can also be combined with each other using logical operations (AND, OR, XOR, NAND, etc.) for intelligent output switching.
