Y adapters for miniCLIX Ex plug connector system

The miniCLIX plug connector system now features new Y adapt-ers which enable the quick and comfortable routing of two cables to a plug or socket. The adapter type 8592 has spring-type clamp terminals which accept data or supply cables with currents up to 9 A. These cables can measure either up to 7.5 or 11 mm in diameter. Instead of internal clamps, the model 8593 fea-tures pluggable connectors on all three ends. Even in Ex zone 1, miniCLIX-enabled field devices can be installed, maintained or exchanged in no time at all, simply by pulling, twisting and pulling. It is no longer necessary to disconnect the device or obtain a special permit. The innovative plug connectors, which were jointly developed by R. STAHL and Cooper Crouse-Hinds, are suitable for isolat-ing all non-intrinsically safe signals in hazardous areas. They also allow for con-verting Ex d field devices into “plug and play” versions. miniCLIX plug connec-tors or sockets are available with twelve different encodings. Basically, the sys-tem allows for a maximum data transfer rate of 100 MBit/s. The Y adapters sup-port a maximum transfer rate of 1.5 MBit/s, which is sufficient for fieldbus appli-cations. They are specified according to II 2 G Ex de IIC T6/T5 and II 2 D IP66 T80 °C / T95 °C and can therefore be used in very sensitive zone 1 and 21 ar-eas susceptible to gas and dust explosions.
