Domino V220i allows a simple move to value and performance

Designed for printing high resolution codes, text and images onto flexible foils, films and labels, the V220i incorporates a range of smart features to deliver consistent coding performance and quality while keeping running costs as low as possible. Compact and compatible with existing TTO bracketry, the V220i is sure to be a popular choice for users seeking to upgrade for greater performance and value.

Many of the benefits derive from the i-Tech intelligent Technology Ribbon Drive; in particular Domino’s unique ribbon economy, which can reduce ribbon usage by up to 60% compared with competing systems, without sacrificing print quality. This feature also maximises uptime by significantly increasing effective ribbon length (up to 1625 metres).

The potential uptime of the V220i receives a further boost thanks to its cassette mechanism, which facilitates fast and efficient ribbon exchange. Rapid calibration means printing resumes quickly.

The V220i offers a choice of 300 dpi print heads (32mm or 55mm), responding to diverse requirements in the food and healthcare sectors for applying information over a variety of print widths. The printer handles complex coding information including text, linear and 2D barcodes and logos and interfaces with code management databases to facilitate the application of unique information at item level.

The V220i’s compact dimensions and compatibility with existing TTO bracketry makes it a compelling choice for both OEM and retrofit installations. Further flexibility is afforded by the printer’s connectivity, wide operational speed range and capability to print in intermittent or continuous mode.

V-Series printers do not need a dedicated controller – users can access the operator-friendly graphical user interface from a desktop PC, laptop, host machine control panel or optional handheld Domino TouchPad. Multiple printers are controllable from a single networked PC interface or hot-swappable TouchPad. Capital cost is further reduced by onboard label creation software included as standard.

The debut of the V220i means that the V-Series now addresses virtually every TTO application requirement: the V120i is an entry level option for users taking their first steps in digital coding with basic applications, while the high performance V320i – which accommodates 1400 metre ribbons - is suitable for complex coding, very fast line speeds or applications where lowest possible cost of ownership is required.

Ease of operation is a key feature, with three printers incorporating QuickStep, the new, simplified graphical user interface rolling out across Domino’s entire coding range. QuickStep provides effortless control and status reporting, doing away with complex menus and parameters in favour of simplified set-up routines that require minimal operator involvement. Using the built-in label creation software, code formats can be created ‘live’, or transferred via USB or Ethernet. The optional handheld TouchPad features a 5.7” touchscreen that is supplied with a docking station for storage and wall mounting.

In developing its i-Tech intelligent Technology concept, Domino’s stated objective is to make production lines lower maintenance, lower cost and more efficient. The new V-Series line up achieves just that – and reflects Domino’s commitment to reducing environmental impact: streamlined design means that the V120i and V220i are 50% lighter than their equivalent predecessor.
