Automation House from Rexroth Reduces Lifecycle Costs

Rexroth’s Automation House pulls together in modular form all innovations from the field of electrical drive and control technology of the past 36 months. “With additional drive and control modules, such as for example the completely new development of our IndraDrive Fc Standard Converter Series, we are continually adding to our Automation House,” confirms Dr Karl Tragl, spokesman for the Electrical Drives and Controls Executive of Bosch Rexroth AG. In doing so, Rexroth continues to uphold international standards and open interfaces. “This is how we remain competitive on each component and can offer the customer the lowest lifecycle costs right across the globe,” Dr Karl Tragl emphasizes.

Automation House considerably reduces the lifecycle costs for drive and control solutions. It includes intelligent electrical drives, scalable controls and a uniform engineering environment. It opens up to users all the benefits of decentralized automation structures combined with universal open standards and interfaces. The latest standards and communication mechanisms are used and these connect seamlessly to offer a better quality of technology to provide maximum investment protection and assurance for the future. For all modules, the drive and control specialist insists on openness. Equally uniform are the third party software modules which enable users to connect easily via standard communications mechanisms.

Rexroth supports all the main standard control communication systems currently in use worldwide such as Profibus, DeviceNet and SERCOS interfaces and even SERCOS III, now ready for its official introduction in November. This new generation of standardized drive interfaces combines proven real time mechanisms with Ethernet Physical and in future will take over a central role in all open system solutions. The Rexroth solutions guarantee transparent dataflow from drive to company data systems without any additional input.

At all levels of automation, whether these are based on drive, controller or pc, right across the board Rexroth supplies the open PLC IndraLogic according to IEC 61131-3 and PLCopen Motion library. For the exporting manufacturer, these internationally accepted PLC standards simplify the automation of production machines and offer extremely high operating speeds. With Rexroth IndraLogic’s universal runtime system, for the first time users can reuse original programs and program sections for all control hardware variations, thereby significantly reducing project planning and start-up costs.

Rexroth reinforces this strategy with the innovative engineering environment IndraWorks. This brings together on a modular basis all the necessary software tools for start-up of the drives through to project planning of complete system solutions. The innovative framework architecture based on the latest NET technology uncouples the engineering data from the applications. This drastically increases data consistency, especially with complex automation processes, and speeds up the Time to Market over the whole production process.

For individual components as well as for complete system solutions in factory automation, Automation House takes care of a range of demands for cost-effective drive and control solutions. With its current Automation House product base, Rexroth continues to broaden its range even further.
