Solid Swabian quality and excellent design
can the two go hand-in-hand? The Design Centre in Nordrhein Westfalen saw no contradic-tion in terms and awarded the WERMA stainless steel tower deSIGN 42 the internationally acclaimed red dot award. The expert jury team was faced with a staggering 2000 entries from 35 countries, which goes to show just how prestigious this award has become in a world-wide context. Only the best, most innovative and design-orientated products are recognised.
WERMA took part in this competition for the first time and was placed straightaway on a par with the very elite of the international design scene.
This recognition is made all the more amazing by the fact that the new tower was created not in a noted design office but entirely by designer Timo Schöttle in the WERMA R&D department. The award will be presented with all due ceremony on 4th. July 2005 in the Aalto Theatre in Essen. The prize-winning objects will be on show in a special exhibition Design Innovations 2005 red dot award: product design from 5th. July to 7th. August in the red dot design museum in Essen. This museum is home to the worlds biggest permanent collection of contemporary design.
The winning product: WERMA Signal Tower deSIGN 42
WERMA has extended the successful signal tower program with the launch of the new LED signal tower in an attractive stainless steel de-sign. The signal towers deSIGN 42 are examples of state of the art technology. These compact LED signal towers enable two or three defined states to be displayed while using only on signal device. When no signal is active, the tower appears cool with its clear, transparent domes. Upon activation of the signal colour appears to be breathed in to the tower.
The signal tower deSIGN 42 has a life duration of up to 50,000 hours and a very low current consumption, making it both economical and maintenance. The low starting current of well under 500mA enables triggering via PLC.
