The „electronic nose sensor” based on the Sicrit technology is a universal “plug & play” ionization source, which simplifies the sample preparation and thus drastically reduces costs of MS analyses. Sicrit (Soft Ionization by Chemical Reaction in Transfer) is small and rigid dielectric barrier discharge based plasma ionization source that is directly merged with the atmospheric pressure inlet of the MS.
Complex sample preparation is avoided, as it allows real-time analyses of solid, liquid or gaseous samples for the smallest traces of volatile impurities, simply by putting the sample in front of the ionization-source. Combined with an automated data interpretation based on algorithms and pattern recognition, Sicrit is able to transform each standard MS into an electronic nose sensor that can be operated in different industrial environments like emission monitoring, controlling of combustions engines or automated decision making in any kind of assembly or food processing line.
