Dionex, in cooperation with DIA Instruments, is offering a fully automated combustion ion chromatography (CIC) system for the analysis of ionic contaminants, especially sulfur and halogens, in hard-to-analyze samples such as petrochemicals, viscous or non-aqueous industrial chemicals, and solid samples. These types of samples usually require time- and labor-intensive sample preparation and extractions before analysis. However, with the system, the sample is simply placed in the combustion chamber. The instrument automatically combusts the sample, absorbs the analytes into solution, and injects the sample solution into the chromatograph. This automated system not only saves time and labor, but also produces less hazardous waste than costly, solvent-intensive, and environmentally unfriendly extractions. The ICS-2100 Reagent-Free IC system further reduces time and labor by eliminating the need to prepare eluents or regenerants.
