VisuNet Remote Monitors Visualization on Ethernet
The Ex-Zone has always been a unique area for applications, calling for extraordinary solutions. Pepperl+Fuchs is a global leader for the design and implementation of devices, components, and system solutions for these types of explosive hazardous areas. In the HMI field, Pepperl+Fuchs EXTEC has developed a new concept, VisuNet. It is a modular remote monitor system, based on a standard Ethernet network connection to the host PC in the safe area, where the visualization and automation software is running.
This solution is realized on a standard Ethernet TCP/IP connection between the PC and the remote monitor, with RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) as the protocol for the data transfer back and forth. RDP is a Microsoft protocol which is an integral part of the Microsoft operating systems: Windows Vista, Windows XP Professional, and Windows 2003 Server. An older version is also available for Windows 2000 Server. What is special about the Pepperl+Fuchs solution is the fact that it allows the information to be transferred via Ethernet without the need of any interface or KVM amplifier. This means, it is possible to fully integrate the Ex-Zone Remote Monitor into a local area network structure or a visualization sub-network.
The data transmission from the PC to the display, and back from the keyboard, mouse and other peripherals (Barcode readers, RFID …) is fully digital. This always delivers the best possible picture without interferences, or need for adjustment or calibration of the picture on the monitor, just plug-and-play.
The Pepperl+Fuchs Remote Monitor system is based on the core component LCD based Remote Monitor with network interface, plus many accessories to adapt to the special needs of specific applications in the process industry (pharmaceutical, chemistry, or Oil & Gas). VisuNet incorporates a wide selection of keyboard and mouse types, as well as a variety of stainless steel enclosures and mounting options. Wherever complex processes need to be controlled and visualized in a harsh industrial environment (also Ex Zones 1 gas and Zone 21 dust), the VisuNet Remote Monitors are the new flexible Ethernet based solution without any compromises.
