Cost-effective Kiosks at Regina International

Arinc announced it has completed an innovative remote installation of its SelfServ common use CUSS kiosks at Regina International Airport in Saskatchewan, Canada.

The installation enables a cost-effective solution of common use kiosks for passengers in the terminal building. By connecting remotely, the airport avoided the expense and storage of having to install costly core systems.

The kiosks at Regina are connected to the centralised CUSS Core system at the Calgary Airport Authority, allowing passengers to check-in and print boarding passes. As a smaller airport, we want to provide our customers with the same full line of services available at other larger Canadian airports, stated Steve Burchi, Vice President of Operations and Corporate Services, Regina Airport Authority (RAA). By having our kiosks remotely connected we can provide this service without having to absorb the cost of implementing the core CUSS system.

Since 1999, the Authority has invested over US$30 million in capital for improvements to the airport. Increasing passenger traffic in recent years prompted the RAA to explore the benefits of common use check-in as a way to improve passenger processing.

Arincs Common Use SelfServ Kiosks speed up passenger check-in and provide passengers more control over the travel experience, while keeping kiosk service financially feasible for the airport through shared costs.

The Calgary Airport Authority currently has 81 Arinc kiosks deployed at the Calgary International Airport and selected local and downtown hotels in Calgary, Alberta. Technological advances have enabled us to assist smaller airports, providing self service that would be within the budget of that airport, stated Paul Lawrence, Director Information Technology for the Calgary Airport Authority.

Arincs SelfServ CUSS solution is present in more than 1,144 multi-airline kiosks supporting 29 airlines at 29 airports, and a number of sizable projects recently undertaken in Asia.
