Gateway monitor facilitates bus traffic
The only connection between two bus systems is a gateway. EUCHNER is now proud to present an absolute highlight with its new GMO gateway monitor. The new GMO is not just the connection between the AS-Interface and Profibus, it is also safe. In addition, the gateway monitor can also operate the AS-Interface Safety completely independently, since the new 2nd generation AS-Interface monitor has also been integrated.
The advantages of this new monitor are enormous. Thanks to direct installation of the monitor in the GMO gateway monitor, the latter is now equipped with a display and makes it possible for the first time to perform diagnosis without a PC. What is more, the diagnosis functions which are available to the control system via the Profibus have also been further enhanced compared with the previous AS-Interface monitor. The data is now more detailed and is easier to evaluate. In addition, all diagnosis and service information is displayed in real time. Faults and error messages can therefore be detected quickly and reliably. The output of the monitor has also been considerably improved. The number of contacts has been increased so that contact multiplication is not always necessary.
And that is not all. Thanks to the technically mature integrated monitor, the GMO gateway monitor now allows a safe connection to be established between two AS-Interface networks. Compared with the also recently presented classic monitor from the AS-Interface consortium with just one connection, the gateway monitor from EUCHNER comes up trumps with two connection points in one device. This makes it possible to create safety groups in different switch-off hierarchies. For example, emergency stop functions can be grouped in one AS-Interface circuit. These can then be forwarded safely and simply as one signal to the next AS-Interface circuit. This is achieved by evaluation of one monitor as a slave by a higher-order AS-Interface circuit.
A further important enhancement in the new GMO is also the possibility of using a memory card, for example. This memory card allows machine manufacturers to commission machines very quickly and easily. The memory card performs the function of a master card here, and has the task of loading the configuration to the monitor with a minimum of fuss. This memory card can of course also be used simply as a memory card in the classic sense. In this case, it stores all the device data, and this stored data can then be easily transferred to a new device in the event of device failure. Loss of data is therefore no longer possible.
Incidentally, all the above advantages of the GMO will also be available in a stand-alone monitor without gateway from summer 2007.
