Conway Security Products have introduced a new day-night camera with 26x optical zoom which they have incorporated into their Strand CCTV dome.
The Strand was developed for areas of architectural sensitivity such as historic town centres where the units complement existing street furniture and building frontages, blending into the environment. The Strand units have been installed in many areas across the UK where aesthetic appearances are at a premium, including the historic towns of Thame, Henley-upon-Thames and Wallingford.
The Strand dome has been designed in such a way that the camera and its control mechanism are fully integrated into the lighting enclosure. A polycarbonate bubble has been created for the dome to ensure the camera travels parallel to the arc of the screen, so minimising picture distortion. This is crucial for the end-user as simply mounting a standard PTZ dome in an off-the-shelf lighting fixture will deliver sub-standard images.
Maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the built environment is important but not at the expense of picture quality which is the motivation for camera installations in the first place.
In addition to merging with period architecture, the Strand dome functions seamlessly on a wide variety of third-party control systems.
Conway’s commitment to open protocols and expertise in implementing protocols directly into the dome make for straightforward installation onto existing control networks.
As a product that has been designed for the urban market, the Strand abounds in features designed to meet the day-to-day challenges of a town or city centre.
For example, shutter speeds can be altered for a certain pre-set position, so allowing the camera to be used for ANPR applications at certain locations but in normal mode elsewhere. All these features are easily configured with intuitive software that comes supplied as standard.
