WinCC flexible in hazardous areas:

The Open HMI operator interfaces of R. STAHL HMI Systems GmbH can now also run Simatic WinCC flexible, the visualization program of Siemens. This means major savings when implementing operating solutions in hazardous areas. In the past, if several operator interfaces had to be installed in a mixed hazardous/industrial environment, for example, extensive safety measures (flameproof or pressurized enclosures) were required. Now, the ex-protected Exicom operator interfaces of the Open HMI series can simply be installed in the hazardous area instead. There is no need for additional components such as housings or ventilation tubes required by other operating systems. This solution is authorized by Siemens and requires only minimal conversion effort: Open HMI devices are compatible with Siemens operating stations and can be integrated into the automation environment via several interfaces, such as serial, Ethernet, USB and Profibus. They are suitable for installation in hazardous zones 1, 2, 21 and 22 and for ambient temperatures from –10°C to +50°C. Three models with graded performance and features are available: the ET-406 (with 10" touchscreen display and keyboard), the ET-416 (10" touchscreen display and function keys) and the ET-436 (15" touchscreen display). All models are based on Pentium M processors with a clock frequency of up to 1.1 GHz.
