Cost-effective SNP-Discovery

Ecotilling is a high throughput, low cost technique for rapid discovery of polymorphisms in natural populations. In only a few hours more than 750 samples or 750000 bases can be screened not only for single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), but also for small insertions and deletions of up to 30 bases. The use of infrared fluorescence technology guarantees high sensitivity and a very good signal-to-noise ratio. Two-colour imaging makes identification of polymorphisms very accurate and virtually eliminates false positives. The Ecotilling technique is applicable to any organism and can be used for mutational profiling, biodiversity studies and mapping.
