Card readers for operator interfaces by R.STAHL HMI Systems

For purposes of access control, Exicom and Provicom operator interfaces by R. STAHL HMI Systems GmbH can be fitted with Wiegand-effect and RFID readers in addition to the usual barcode scanners. In total, readers for five different reading methods are available: Barcode, magnetic coding (Wiegand-effect) or data transfer via radio waves (MIFARE, PROXIMITY and i-Class). Because R. STAHL HMI Systems uses worldwide standards, the systems can be integrated into almost any application – ranging form access control in tankfarms to the pharmaceutical industry. The user administration prescribed by the US Food and Drugs Authority (in guideline FDA 21 CFR Part 11) can thus be implemented more easily and comfortably. The readers can be used in safe areas, rough industrial and hazardous environments as well as within extended temperature ranges – consequently, we do not only offer the basic models, but also readers certified according to ATEX (zones 1 and 2). These reader systems are functionally integrated into the operator interfaces by R. STAHL HMI Systems and simply connected to the panels. It is also possible, however, to just order individual readers. The readers can easily communicate with higher-level systems: aaan OPC server is used to link the card readers directly connected to the operator interfaces to Windows-based networks. A number of protocol drivers is available for the connection to automation systems, but the connection via serial terminal protocols or Telnet, still used in tankfarms, is also possible.
