The integration of sensors and actuators via a bus system as part of comprehensive automation has numerous advantages. Thus the manufacturers of textiles, printing and packaging machinery - from material flow facilities right through to medical engineering equipment - are utilising field bus systems on an increasing basis.
In order that they are able to capitalise on the advantages of DC motors, Dunkermotoren in Bonndorf / Schwarzwald now presents its motor with integrated electronics, product line BG65, with an integrated interface CANopen Drives profile DSP 402. This allows the brushless DC motors to link with an extensive automation network via a CANopen bus. With their integrated electronics, the motors work in a 4-quadrant operation. All functions can be addressed via the bus interface. This includes the positioning read-out, either via the integrated hall sensors or the optional incremental encoder. The latter ensures accuracy up to 10 angular minutes at variable rotational speeds from 1 up to a nominal / maximum rotational speed. Operation with a controlled torque speed is additionally possible. The DC motors can be started in either rotational direction, and stopped with or without holding torque. In addition diagnostics messages can be transferred via the field bus interface. The product line BG65 includes motors for 24, 40 and 60 V DC at a drive power of 65, 100 and 140 W, and torque speeds of 20, 30 and 40 Ncm.
A considerable advantage of the brushless DC motors is their maintenance-free and wear-free operation, resulting from the lack of contact parts. Precision ball-bearings ensure a long life-expectancy. These are lubricated and sealed for their life term. Motors with the interface CANopen Drives Profile DSP 402 are protected against environmental influences in accordance with the IP65 protection system. They utilise a 5-pole, standard circular connector for the field bus interface.
In order to reliably ensure the torque and motor speed characteristics of the drive, users receive a wide range of appropriate planetary and worm gears from the Bonndorf drive specialists.
The completely modular structure permits virtually any combination of different drive components. The result of this is that the user is able to realise the requisite torque and motor speed characteristics with standard modules.
