Valve Control....without compromises

GEMÜ has launched a new controller for pneumatic process valves. The modular device can be directly mounted to linear and quarter turn actuators via various mounting kits or, in a novel way can be separately installed at a certain distance from the process valve!

Two versions are available; "positioner" and "process controller with position control" which can be used for travel control or PLC independent process control with a total error of less than 1%. All standard process SET VALUES can be used. The GEMÜ cPos® 1436 has an infrared interface enabling remote setting/scanning during operation in addition to direct manual programming which is of great advantage when the device is installed in places with difficult access. The RS-232 serial interface allows connection to a PC without the need for special software. Or the controller can be integrated into a Profibus DP system via an optional field bus interface and further field bus versions are designed and can be offered upon request. Initialisation of the basic setting takes place in an automatic intelligent learning mode which enables the controller to get to know the valve characteristics and to easily ensure the basic function of the device. Its self-analysis programme recognises possible error sources, such as wrong control pressure or signal errors and indicates them on the user-friendly, plain text menu LC display. There is no need to open the device for installation and commissioning as all the connection work and settings can be carried out externally.

The protection class is IP 65. Pneumatic connection is via standard tube connections, the 24 V DC power supply and the signal inputs and outputs are by 5 pin screwed plugs. The valve can be actuated to a safety position via digital input if required. A 0/4-20 mA analogue output or 2 relays enable monitoring of the actual value, set value or the valve position. The valve position is detected by a high performance travel sensor mounted on the valve actuator which means there is no need for levers, toothed racks or gears to obtain movement sensing. The travel sensor does not need to be screwed to the valve spindle which means that pressure peaks in the installation cannot be transmitted to the controller. A spring ensures travel transmission without mechanical play. The device has an appealing functional design with good cleanability. The requirements of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) demanded in the pharmaceutical industry and the high purity requirements of the semiconductor industry are also fulfilled.

The GEMÜ cPos® 1436 electro-pneumatic positioner also complies with current requirements regarding prevention of accidents and use. The housing is made from high quality plastic materials and offers high mechanical stability. The positioner can be used both with small and relatively large pneumatic actuators and thus heavy and space-taking adapters are not necessary for mounting the positioner to control valves.
