Displacement sensors with 0.08 nanometer resolution

Micro-Epsilon has developed new displacement sensors, specifically bred for extremely high resolution. With a new controller, circuit resolution figures down to 0.08 nm in the differential mode are possible. Expressed in meters, this means ten zeroes after the decimal point. Another comparison renders the order of magnitude even more apparent: a hydrogen atom has a diameter of 0.1 nm.
The new sensors in the Series eddyNCDT 3700 are based on the eddy current principle. This is the field in which Micro-Epsilon has more than 25 years of experience and is always a source of excellent new products.
The Series 3700 has been designed for applications in production facilities, machines or in plant engineering for position and control tasks. The compact controller and the rugged sensor can be particularly well integrated into tightly spaced equipment and are therefore designed for OEM series production applications. The controller is offered in single and dual-channel versions. In addition, a differential system with two sensors is available. The product series includes various sensor models with measurement ranges from 0.5/ 1/3 or 6 mm. Along with the high resolution, the system is also very fast with a 10 kHz frequency response. Due to a high repetitive accuracy and excellent temperature stability, the Series 3700 is ideally suited to signal conditioning with a PC or signal processor.
