Decentralised Drive Solutions

Danfoss has rounded out its product range for decentralised drive controls with the VLT series FCM 300 frequency converter, the VLT series FCD 300 frequency converter and the decentralised DMS 300 motor switches. It is possible to mount next to the motor due to the flexible enclosure design with IP 66/NEMA 4 protection. Also available: A motor-mounted version for attachment to standard asynchronous drives and standard motors. The enclosure is very resistant to aggressive environmental conditions and cleaning agents. The large terminal housing with spring-loaded terminals and the optional connectors make wiring easier. The modular setup offers machine and system installers multiple constructive possibilities and reduces EMC problems. If a motor is to be controlled remotely and without adjustable speed, the decentralised motor switch in the power range of 0.18 to 3 kW is a cost-effective solution. It enables smooth starting and stopping of the motor in both directions, as well as the opening and closing of a mechanical brake. The ramp times are set at start-up by means of DIP switches. Control occurs by means of the ASi interface or binary inputs and outputs. The decentralised frequency converters of the named series are available in the power range of 0.37 kW to 3 kW (380 …480 V). The parameterisation, extended diagnosis and drive optimisation is controlled by software by means of the optional plain text display or Profibus, in which the operation of the plain text display is possible as a standard feature parallel to the Profibus. The converters can also be controlled by means of analogue and digital inputs. For operation with Profibus or ASi-bus, one can use the 5 digital inputs, the analogue output and the control relay for other tasks, e.g. for signal reception, even with external 24 V power supply.
