PASSCHIP

Smart Access Control reader for self service areas

A. Description
PASSCHIP enables Banks to facilitate the access of customers to the 24Hours Self Service area, in a secured, automatic way. The system is very flexible allowing multiple possible configurations and combined with its simplicity and intuitive GUI makes PASSCHIP an advanced and easy to use Access Control System.

B. Hardware
The PASSCHIP System has a main control unit witch can be configured to work with a smart CHIP contact card reader, with a NFC card reader or both. Also the system has many input/output ports allowing to be interconnected with other access control systems triggering multiple events from PASSCHIP System.

Control Unit: represents the core of the system. It has IO ports which permit controlling other output devices like door lockers or to monitor outside sensors like Fire Alarm, External Time Table or Tamper.

The control unit has serial communication ports such as RS232 or USB ports  through which it communicates with the card-reader units, video port for display and Ethernet port for interconnection with the GUI Application running on a PC with Windows OS.

Contact Reader: represents the unit through which the users are authenticated using a contact CHIP smartcard.

NFC Reader: represents the unit through which the users are authenticated using a NFC card.

Display (3.5”or 4.3”): used for displaying text messages in order to signal some functional stages of the PASSCHIP system like “Loading”, ”Maintenance”, “Out of Service”, etc. or to interact with the users displaying messages like “Insert Card”, “Access Granted”, “Access Denied”,  “Card Lost”.

Door Lock Output: represents the output contact through which the PASSCHIP system activates or not the door lock in order to permit or deny access to the 24Hours Self Service area.

Fire Alarm, External Timetable and Tamper Inputs: represent inputs for the PASSCHIP system.

Wiegand Interface: represents the communication port through which the PASSCHIP system interconnects with other existing access control systems (with Wiegand interface) in order to signal events.

GUI Application (PASSCON Basic): is a Windows based application which has lots of functionality conferring management and control functions to the whole system. The Basic application allows the declaration of multiple PASSCHIP systems with different configurations, firmware updates, messages editing, background image update and many more.

C. Software

Functionality:

  • Authentication / Authorization
  • authentication is initiated by the customer by presenting a smartcard to a PASSCHIP reader
  • PASSCHIP reads the card details (Card Number and Expiration dates) and then takes the appropriate action (allow or block access to the 24Hours Self Service area)
