Reduce cable complexity - rugged IO-Modules for CC-Link

Just in time for SPS/IPC/DRIVES in Nuremberg sensor specialist and networking provider Balluff is introducing IO-modules for CC-Link. With this CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA) certified solution, decentralized automation networks with IP 67 protection can be implemented for the first time using M12 connectors quickly and reliably without complex cabling or control cabinets. Designed for the demands of harsh industrial environments, these new modules with their rugged, fully potted metal housing made of die-cast zinc resist dust, vibration, lubricants and corrosive liquids.

With dimensions of just 224 millimeters long by 68 millimeters wide and 30.9 millimeters high, these highly compact modules not only save time, but also offer a variety of useful features. These include an especially flat profile with rounded edges and a good view of the side-located, large identification labels for the port arrangement. Two fastening points provide time-saving installation while stubbornly resisting mechanical over-tightening.

The user always has an overview, since the CC-Link modules feature two bright, highly visible LEDs for each M12 port (I/O interface) for indicating the respective operating states and configurations. A display with two select keys is used for conveniently setting the station addresses. A key symbol indicates when input mode and the entered values are locked out from the keypad or the controller. This prevents improper entries and protects machines and equipment from unauthorized access and misuse. In addition, two LEDs in the display field of the module can be freely programmed using the I/O register of a PLC, also assisting the user in tasks such as startup, error warning or preventive maintenance.

The initial introduction in Fall 2009 will include four different CC-Link block modules each available with various I/O combinations (16 in-puts, 8 outputs, a maximum of 16 freely programmable in- and outputs as well as 8 inputs and 8 outputs).
