Surfaces Optimized for Drug Discovery Applications

BD Biosciences launches BD Purecoat, an advanced surface for cell culture, which provides enhanced attachment, faster cell proliferation rates, and improved differentiation capabilities for a broad range of primary cell, stem cells, and transfected cell lines. A proprietary thin-film coating technology produces a uniform, functionalized surface that provides a highly controlled environment for cell culture applications. Both BD Purecoat amine, a positively charged surface, and BD Purecoat carboxyl, a negatively charged surface, provide improved cell attachment and cell proliferation over standard tissue culture (TC)-treated surfaces. In drug discovery assays, when using transfected cells and commercially prepared division arrested cell lines, both surfaces maintain cell monolayers during vigorous liquid handling manipulation. Serum-reduced and serum-free culture conditions are well compatible.
