At ESC West (booth 1028), Kontron is presenting three new embedded motherboards with 45nm Intel Core2 Quad and Intel Core2 Duo processors in the form factors Mini-ITX, Flex-ATX and ATX. The Kontron KTGM45 motherboards outperform conventional motherboards which were developed for the consumer market thanks to 7 year long-term availability, highest design quality and a lavish selection of interfaces.
Based on the Mobile Intel GM45 chipset, the Mini-ITX, Flex-ATX and ATX Kontron KTGM45 embedded motherboards offer an ideal performance-per-watt ratio and up to date interface technology, like PCI Express x16, without neglecting embedded designers' needs. They still carry, for example, 4 serial interfaces alongside the 12 USB 2.0 interfaces. The embedded motherboards also offer more PCB layers than conventional motherboards, in order to achieve excellent signal qualities and optimize electromagnetic compatibility. Furthermore, the new Kontron KTGM45 embedded motherboards premiere a new quality feature: Solid capacitors. Compared to boards with conventional electrolyte capacitors they feature an extended lifetime and little to no wear-out even at the highest temperatures.
Graphic power
The extensive range of interfaces and top flexibility for connecting monitors via S-video, VGA, LVDS, DVI and HDMI make the new Kontron embedded motherboards ideal for computation-intensive visual computer systems in medical, automation, digital signage, security and video surveillance markets. Graphic intensive applications profit from the integrated DirectX10 graphics with Shader Model 4.0 for VGA and SDVO with DVI and HDMI via the PCI Express x16 slot. Resolutions of up to 2048 x 1536 via CRT and 1920 x 1080 via LVDS enable direct input to Full HD panels in native resolution.
Energy-efficient and service-friendly
The new Kontron KTGM45 embedded motherboards support all Intel processors with PGA 478 socket up to the 45 nm Intel Core2 Duo T9400 processor. With the Intel Mobile 82GM45 Graphics and Memory Controller Hub and the Intel I/O Controller Hub (Intel ICH9EM) they offer a low chipset TDP (14.5 watts) as well as DDR3 RAM for energy-efficient embedded designs. Kontron’s new embedded motherboards also support Intel Active Management Technology (Intel AMT 4.0) for remote management and easy maintenance resulting in higher system availability and lower total costs.
Performance and interfaces in abundance
Kontron's KTGM45 embedded motherboard family also boosts data intensive applications with up to 8 GB of energy efficient DDR3 SDRAM. To suit the needs of applications with extensive interface requirements, the new Kontron embedded motherboards additionally offer 1x PCI Express x4, up to 5 x PCI and 3x Intel Gigabit Ethernet, one of these with Intel AMT support. This enables – even when AMT is being employed – flexible and comfortable multiple networking. In addition, with the 12 x USB 2.0, 4x RS232C, 1x parallel port and 1x PS/2, the Kontron KTGM45 embedded motherboards offer numerous interfaces for connecting peripherals. On top of this, the Mini-ITX version offers 2x Firewire (IEEE1394) and 1x Compact Flash Type I + II for specific extensions for compact system designs. Storage media can be connected via 4 SATA interfaces with RAID 0/1/5/10 functionality for highest data security and one additional ATA100 port.
The new Kontron KTGM45 ATX, Flex-ATX und Mini-ITX embedded motherboards are available now and are supplied with comprehensive Board Support Packages for Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded and Linux.
