RadarGARD® - Digital Sensor System

The new RadarGARD® is a digital sensor system used for intelligent perimeter security. Unidentified climb-over attempts of fences with aids such as ladders, vehicles and climbing constructions are thus a thing of the past. With RadarGARD® it is possible to form virtual detection lines, within which movements are exactly pinpointed, irrespective of the weather.

The digital sensor technology, which in the meantime is more and more replacing the analog, line-related detection technology, also enables the monitoring of long sections of 15 or 20 kilometers, and does this in a quality which, on the one hand, keeps the rate of undesired alarm signals extremely low and, on the other hand, detects attacks reliably.

RadarGARD® is one of the few peripheral detection systems in the world which identifies alarm objects within defined areas, up to a height of 15 meters, with position, speed and direction of motion, and provides this data for further processing. Thus, for example, RadarGARD® can distinguish a fully-grown hare from a person. The precise alarm signals are represented on the graphic user interface (GUI) of higher-level control systems or transmitted to the control system of dynamic video technology. In this way, nearly everything can be monitored: Fences, capstones, areas, facades, interiors, storage halls or roofs - independently of fog, rain, snow or hail.

The installation of RadarGARD® is for example implemented directly on fences, in which the detection system can also be integrated as a sub-system into existing security structures. A single RadarGARD® sensor, which for instance has the size of a DIN A4 sheet, can monitor one direction for up to 100 meters.

The principle of operation: RadarGARD® continuously emits completely harmless electromagnetic waves in the 24 Ghz frequency range as a so-called primary signal, and then it receives back the waves reflected from objects as a secondary signal and evaluates this "echo" according to individually stipulated criteria.

Several sensors can be linked into one system and, if required, these can be provided with camouflage for optical adaptation into the environment. The power supply of the sensors is implemented over a CAN bus data line.

The innovative fence monitoring system RadarGARD® from HAVERKAMP celebrates its premiere at the Security Fair 2008 in Essen, Hall 3, Stand 714.
