Mass flow meters measure flow in units of mass flow (kg/h) rather than volume. Thermatel TA2 uses thermal dispersion technology. This technology is not affected by pressure changes and uses temperature as a measuring value. Thermal dispersion is still a relatively unknown technology but is gaining interest fast as users discover its unique benefits:
- Low flow capability as low as 0,13 Nm/s.
- Wide flow range with turn down ratio 100:1 or higher.
- Negligible pressure drop.
- Direct mass flow measurement.Mounting: direct insertion or with flow body.
- Ready for use: pre-calibrated from factory
Integral or Remote
All electronics are housed in a compact, explosion-proof enclosure mounted on the probe or at a remote location.
DisplayOptional two-line, 16 digits/line, alphanumeric display module with fourbutton keypad for easy configuration.
Rotatable EnclosureDisplays flow rate, temperature, totalized flow and diagnostic messages.
TA2’s Electronics Features
- Automatic temperature compensation.
- Automatic pipe blockage adjustment.
- Automatically corrects mass flow measurement for changes in gas properties over the entire temperature range of the instrument.
- Diagnostic monitoring of electronics, probe sensors, heater circuit and wiring.
- Software totalizer displays (on an eight-digit display) the most significant numbers in the user’s choice of engineering units. The totalizer can be reset via HART®.
- Easy, intuitive software programming.
- Flow profile compensation.
- Active or passive 4-20 mA output.
- Optional HART/AMS communications allows remote configuration of the TA2.
Optional TA2 Modules
A probe simulation module can verify the operation of the electronics against a known standard. A portable display module can simultaneously configure and diagnose multiple Thermatel transmitters.
Process Connections
Selection of process connections includes threads, welded flange construction, and use with a compression fitting.
Probe
All-welded stainless steel; Hastelloy C-276 optional. Process temperatures to +200 °C (+400 °F); pressure rating to 170 bar (1,000 psi); ratings are dependent upon process connections.
Convenience
Probe is field-replacable; optional hot tap Retractable Probe Assembly (RPA) allows for probe installation or removal without a process shutdown.
ProtectionSensor is protected within a durable enclosure to prevent damage if the probe is inserted too far into a pipe.
