Balluff will be introducing their smallest BNS safety switch at the Hanover Fair. This features a normally open switch element with snap function and a normally closed forced opening contact which opens the circuit even if the contacts are welded. These safety switches have recently been added to series BNS 46 and 40 (multiple position) and BNS 99 and 100 (single position). They feature a normally open switch element with snap function and a normally closed forced opening contact.
The safety contact opens not later than 0.5 mm after the nominal switching point even when the contacts are stuck or welded. Only rigid-type plungers are generally used in the safety switch positions with forced opening, so that the plunger and actuation pin form a rigid unit. A spring ensures retraction as soon as the load is released from the plunger. Ideal applications include machine tools, the automobile industry, and wood processing. The BNS safety switches are also well suited as end-of-travel switches for driverless transport systems, or wherever reliable circuit interruption in small mechanical switches is needed.
