New Atex-certified Gas Detector

The new, Atex-certified Xgard Type 4 gas detector from Crowcon is designed to quickly detect flammable gases in high temperature applications (up to 150ºC) such as gas turbines, gas-fired drying ovens or printing and coating processes. Gas turbines are usually operated with natural gas (or sometimes naphtha) at high flow volumes, so a gas leak could be extremely dangerous. It is advisable that at least one gas detector should be installed if a gas turbine has a continuous gas supply. This detector should ideally be located in the ventilation outlet, as a leak will always reach it. The main detector in the ventilation outlet should be set to alarm at the lowest practical level preferably between 510% of the lower explosion limit.Because of the extremely high temperatures generated by gas turbines, conventional sensors cannot be used. The Xgard Type 4 is therefore ideal for this application.
