New via:sys IP Video Alarm Sensor counts on Axis Device Server

Modern video alarm systems are able to trigger a qualified alarm using a video signal instead of simple sensor data which are provided by motion detectors or photo-electric guards. They can especially be used to protect outdoor areas, buildings and property borders but work also in closed rooms. Their advantage is simple: Instead of just switching an alarm signal, the “alarm images” will be forwarded to an operator even before the first damage could be done. An operator can judge the situation and directly start the right intervention.

 

The german software house V.A.S. GmbH has already sold more than 6.000 of their via:sys video sensors with focus on car-dealers, consumer markets, prisons and airports. Their classic PC-based system can handle up to 16 analog cameras on a single industrial PC. Linux is used as operation system.

 

With their brand new IP Video Alarm Sensor, the company is expanding their product line towards a pure intelligent video alarm sensor for IP cameras. Hannes Ackfeld, general manager of V.A.S. explains why: “To analyze the pictures and trigger an qualified alarm with our sensor software technologie, our classic solution has to digitalize the video signals anyhow. So, the availability of good value IP-cameras made the development of our IP Video Alarm Sensor the next consequential step ahead.”

The result is a pure embedded alarm system, which can be easily accessed by IP address and configured via a web interface. Parameter settings like flexible sensitivity, recognition of directions and electronic fence are provided by the smart piece of embedded system. Weather, Sun, Reflections and most of all other outdoor interferences are ignored – even at night.
