Intelligent High-Volume Multichannel Pipetting

Caliper Life Sciences launches the Caliper Sciclone i1000 Liquid Handling System, a high-volume liquid handler that can independently control delivery of liquids into each well of a 96- or 384-well microplate. The i1000 joins the inL10 and ALH 3000 systems in Caliper's popular line of Sciclone liquid handlers.

The Caliper Sciclone i1000 shares the Sciclone inL10 system's unique "multi MEMS" technology: each of the instrument's 96 fluid channels has a dedicated MEMS
(micro-electromechanical systems) flow meter that
controls, monitors and verifies delivery of fluids. In
addition to providing simultaneous multi-volume pipetting
capabilities, this type of design improves accuracy and precision of liquid handling and allows for extended audit
trail capabilities.

The Caliper Sciclone i1000 Workstation provides intelligent and precise 96-channel pipetting of volumes between 10 µL and 1000 µL in a highly versatile and scalable automation format. It is the first and only 96-channel high volume pipetting instrument to provide:

• Real time dispense verification and independent channel control
• The ability to carry out independent channel control for
• one-step normalizations with transfer up to 1 mL
• An audit trail for liquid handling performance and 21 CFR part 11 compliance
• Precise aspiration and non contact dispense from 10 µL to 1000 µL using disposable tips
• 96 channel transfers up to 1 mL across microplate-based tube racks, deep-well plates or SPE filter plates
• Well-by-well liquid detection, enabling confirmation of liquid prior to pipetting
