Shimadzu celebrates its 130th anniversary this year and introduces seven new products during the anniversary year 2005, including a new HPLC and a new GC system. At booth A06:38 visitors may for example have a closer look at the new LC-20A prominence for routine analysis. Rather than faster, higher, wider", as new products features are often described, the new system is "easier, busier, more sensitive and more flexible". Furthermore, the new system is more communicative through the integrated web-server providing a HTML page as universal client. The users just have to open Internet-Explorer in order to start up the HPLC system and to create a sample table. The system controller is now being replaced by a CBM (Communications Bus Module) or is reduced to one board in the pump or
autosampler. An autosampler (10 seconds for 10 µL injections) provides high throughput and an additional sample holder for ten standards as well as an optional rack changer with additional 12 microtitre plates are available. The UV or UV-VIS and photodiode-array detectors are now more sensitive due to improved signal to noise ratio, less drift and a thermostatically controlled flow cell. The software allows the control of two independent binary gradients within one system.
