A method to control vacuum is the two-point control with solenoid valve. Nevertheless, such systems are not able to detect and follow boiling points automatically. Fully automatic vacuum controllers find the boiling pressure of the solvent or solvent mixture by analysing the pressure characteristic during pump down. A typical example is the chemistry pumping unit PC 2001 Vario. The high, constant evaporation rate at working pressure reduces the process time by more than 30%. As the pump runs most of the time at very low speed additional benefits are silent operation and improved lifetime of diaphragms and valves. With its favourable price / performance relatio the PC 2001 Vario pumping unit is an excellent single user solution for vacuum generation and control in the laboratory.
