Phoenix|x-ray Systems + Services launched their new testing concept FIXEA – Fully Integrated X-ray Evaluation and Analysis.
Up to now microfocus X-ray systems were only available as stand-alone solution for manual or semi-automated inspection. With the new FIXEA platform phoenix|x-ray is closing the gap between PCB design, non-destructive testing and the rework process.
The new image processing software quality|assurance imports the CAD data of the PCB supporting the fast set-up of inspection programmes with individual parameters, templates and test routines. The fully automated inspection cycle starts after loading the sample into the X-ray system by registering the positions of the fiducials to the highly precise CNC control.
The inspection protocol including fail-pass-decision is now being transferred to the rework station with a dedicated interface. With the new software quality|review the operator can now review all failure X-ray images and evaluate the failures with the help of a reference image library and perform the required rework. Finally, either the reworked positions or the whole PCB go through the automated inspection process again.
For full traceability all PCBs are registered with a barcode scanner before and if necessary after the rework. Thus it is possible to fall back upon the stored images and inspection protocols any other time. Besides, a large number of statistical functions are available for a statistical interpretation.
Due to the flexibility of the hardware and software many different inspection tasks can be solved. Apart from printed circuit board assemblies typical applications might be electronic packages, electromechanical devices and mechanical devices.
