The inductive proximity sensors of SICK's IM series in Inox housings are of particular interest for the food and beverages industries. They are used, among other things, for detecting objects on accumulating conveyor sections, and in filling or closing plants. In addition to the fully encapsulated stainless steel housing in V4A 1.4404, the sensors' special highlight is their triple switching distance, which provides a greater detection range and thus allows protected installation.
Together with appropriate plug connectors and connection boxes, the various IM sensors form the Food & Beverages solution package with enclosure ratings of IP 69K. The materials used – stainless steel V4A 1.4404 and PVC – meet the requirements for sensors and connector technology in wet areas. Long SICK sensor service lives and reliable signal transmission are the result.
Triple switching distance – simply better protected
The IM12, IM18 and IM30 inductive Inox proximity sensors have a fully encapsulated stainless steel housing in V4A 1.4404. They are used for detecting objects on accumulating conveyor sections, and in filling and closing plants. The sensors' special highlight is their triple switching distance, which provides a greater detection range and thus allows protected installation. With a reduction factor of up to 0.9, very good detection of stainless steel and steel objects can be achieved.
Safe transmission
The M12 device plug has an enclosure rating of IP 69K – as does the swivel nut on the connection cable, available in a variety of lengths between 2 and 25 m. The cable, contact carrier and extrusion are designed in PVC to meet the demands of food & beverages. The signals of up to 16 sensors can be connected to a sensor distributor box. The use of V4A (1.4404) and PVC as materials, supplemented by fully encapsulated electronics, also ensures an IP 69K rating here. A single cable from the box to the controller transmits the data from all the sensors.
Powerful in food and packaging technology
The Food & Beverages solution is part of a comprehensive range of sensors from SICK for the food and beverages industries. These include the capacitive proximity sensors of the CM series and W4 photoelectric switches with Teflon encapsulation, as well as W12 series photoelectric switches in Teflon housings, specially adapted for glass detection. When it's a question of safety technology suitable for wet areas,
C 2000 and C 4000 light grids in IP67 housings, for example, offer permanent protection for machine operators – as shown by their use in Camembert packaging or on meat-shaping presses.
