First Biometric LOCKSAFE Lockers

LockTec presents the worldwide first biometric LOCKSAFE lockers with combined fingerprint and video-surveillance. The question often occurs how to deliver a higher degree of security with left-luggage-lockers. Since the parent-company of LockTec is experienced with biometrics access-systems since the 1990's it was a short step to use the synergy of both business units in developing a useful biometrics-system for the customers of LOCKSAFE-lockers.

LockTec, always innovative in the locker-business, produces a system where fingerprints are used as a key to store and to retrieve luggage at airports, railway-stations and others. Advantages of biometrics LOCKSAFE's are that only the person who rents the locker can reopen it. So the locker cannot be used as drops to pass on weapons, drugs etc.

Why fingerprints and not iris-recognition? Because customers have more possibilities:
- when one finger cannot be recognised they can use another one.
- iris-recognition is not safe enough, at present, since contact-lenses can be used to bypass the system.
- It is more difficult for the customers to overcome one's inhibitions.

In combination with an advanced video-surveillance LOCKSAFE are the most secure lockers worldwide for both users and operators.

LockTec is a medium-sized company with its head office in Northern Bavaria / Germany and a subsidiary near Edinburgh / Scotland. The group – successful in the market since beginnings in 1954 – is a recognised leader in quality and innovation, and today develops, produces and distributes delivery box and locker-systems to customers all over the world for a wide range of applications and requirements.
