Under the name of "RIVKLE® PN", Böllhoff (Bielefeld) has introduced a new generation of RIVKLE® blind rivet nuts in Germany. The variant has already been available for many years in the USA and, with maximum pull-out forces, adds a new dimension to blind rivet nut fastening. It is specially designed for applications in thin-walled sheet metal, hollow sections or plastic parts.
For many years, with its RIVKLE® products, Böllhoff has been offering an extensive product range in the field of blind rivet nut technology. Components are joined via so-called upsetting; this method is particularly widespread in the automotive industry, in aircraft construction and in the electrical and electronics industry.
With this special blind rivet nut , Böllhoff is presenting a new variant that can be used wherever particularly high pull-out forces are required, for example, with modern plastics (pultruded plastic, blow-moulded plastic, SMC plastic, rotoformed plastic) as are used in the engine area of motor vehicles and in the interior of commercial vehicles and aeroplanes. The same also applies to hollow sections and thin-walled sheet metal for lightweight construction in the automotive industry.
RIVKLE® PN has a slit shaft for maximum pull-out forces; this is splayed out on the blind side of the carrier material to form four "petals". With a large bearing surface, it is possible to achieve maximum pull-out forces.
The result: depending on the material, the pull-out forces are up to about seven times higher (with rotoformed plastic) than with conventional blind rivet nuts. With steel, the extraction force is more than doubled and, with SMC plastics, it is almost three times greater.
At 7.1 millimetres, the RIVKLE® PN offers the largest clamping range of all blind rivet nuts. In addition, as a result of the low radial stresses in the setting process, it is possible to prevent damage to soft or brittle materials. The standard properties of rivet nuts in general do, of course, also apply to the RIVKLE® PN: no thermal load of the joint zone, high process safety, even with painted or coated surfaces, and low investment costs since, unlike spot welding, for example, no other peripheral equipment is required. To perform a quality control, the joint does not have to be destroyed; only a screw and two nuts are required to check the setting stroke value.
For working with RIVKLE® PN, Böllhoff offers pneumatically operated installation tools offering flexible use, ease of operation and speed (cycle times approx. 4 seconds); these tools are both ergonomic and economical to use. Böllhoff also offers manual tools that can be operated independently of the mains in order to repair torn joints or to install RIVKLE® PN at a later date.
This blind rivet nut is also extremely suitable for mass production since the blind rivet nuts can be riveted using existing setting tools. As service provider, Böllhoff offers extensive consultation, including material sampling.
RIVKLE® PN is available in steel, aluminium and stainless steel in thread sizes M4 to M10. If, during installation, a torque has to be applied to the joint, it is recommended that the "pre-bulbed" RIVKLE® PN variant is used since this is already slightly splayed.
With this special blind rivet nut, Böllhoff highlights its extensive expertise and leading position in the field of rivet technology. The company is now the world's largest manufacturer of blind rivet nuts and riveting systems from one stop and boasts its own production facilities, as well as a wealth of experience.
