RNA-Specific Quantification Kit

Molecular Probes has developed the RiboGreen RNA-specific quantification kit for quantifying RNA, even in samples contaminated with DNA. The reagent shows higher fluorescence enhancement upon RNA binding than any other dye of the company. In the RNA-specific kit, it is paired with DNase I, allowing RNA to be purified and measured from a sample as much as 1:1 (w/w) DNA/RNA. In RNA-quantitation solution assays, the reagent has a detection range of approximately 2 ng to 1 mg of RNA per ml - a much higher sensitivity and a broader measurement range than can be obtained with UV absorbance readings. The product also becomes fluorescent on binding to DNA, making the specific quantitation of RNA difficult.
