The Simatic OP 77B is equipped with on-board interfaces and drivers for the most important controllers on the market. There is also an integral USB port for connecting a printer or downloading projects. Projects can also be loaded over a serial connection or via MPI/Profibus-DP, and configurations can be loaded remotely using Simatic TeleService or a modem.
The memory of the new Simatic panels can be significantly expanded for recipe data or for backing up projects using a commercially available MultiMediaCard (MMC). Recipes are stored in standard CSV format and further processed easily on the PC using, for example, MS Excel. Projects backed up on MMC simplify the replacement of devices in the case of service work.
Configuring is carried out using the new Simatic WinCC flexible engineering software, from the Compact version upward. This offers powerful functions such as a message system with freely definable message classes and message history, analog messages, five online languages, language-independent text and graphics, recipe management, and limit value monitoring. Reports can be freely configured and recipe data records can be edited in advance with WinCC flexible. Pictures are created quickly using an extensive graphics library with off-the-shelf picture objects. Projects from OP7 devices can be easily converted into OP 77B projects.
