The PMD Profiler is optimally suited for quality assurance tasks directly in the process. Compared to other methods, the new contour sensor, which measures in a range of 150 to 300 mm, is easy to set up and insensitive to interfering light. It works according to the triangulation principle. In this process, the sensor projects a straight laser line onto the surface to be measured. The laser light is reflected and detected by the receiving element (PMD chip) in the sensor. An angular offset between the projection unit and the receiving element enables the contour sensor to detect the height profile of the object.
