Fully automated liquid-chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric (LC-MS/MS) analyzer

The Thermo Scientific™ Cascadion™ SM Clinical Analyzer is a fully automated liquid-chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric (LC-MS/MS) analyzer. Unlike current LC-MS workflows which are batch-only, it is a random access analyzer. Up to 60 samples can be loaded at a time, enabling samples to be added as they arrive in the lab.  The sample racks accommodate different sample tube and cup types to allow testing of serum, plasma and whole blood matrices. After sample processing, the analyzer is designed to produce test results every two minutes.

The Cascadion system is a complete solution, with all reagents and supplies provided by a single supplier.  The system offers full traceability: each result can be linked to the specific lot of reagent, calibrators and controls. The analyzer can be connected to Middleware or an LIS for a fully automated workflow.  Results with no flags are sent automatically and do not require a user review. This ease of reporting saves time and reduces the potential for errors.
