Mobile Applications Now Replacing Company Credentials
The proliferation of smartphones is steadily increasing and with it the business use of mobile devices. Recognizing this trend early, Interflex GmbH & Co. KG, together with its parent company Ingersoll Rand, developed applications that make processes in the areas of time management and access even more functional, flexible and convenient.
Within the context of company-internal time management solutions, employees will henceforth have the option of booking their work hours flexibly from any location by means of the eVayo Mobile app. Employees working outside the company, e.g. in the field, at construction sites or as drivers, benefit from these applications in particular. As part of the new product generation eVayo, Interflex adapted the design and handling of the application to the new time & attendance recording terminal IF-5735. Due to the uniform design of the systems, both visually and functionally, additional staff training is not required.
Functions integrated in the time & attendance recording terminal, such as "IN", "OUT", "OUT ON BUSINESS " or "INFO", are also displayed on the smartphone via the app. Accordingly, employees can perform bookings with their phone as well as directly at the terminal. In contrast to the time & attendance recording terminal, where employees have to hold their credentials in front of the device, performing a booking via the app requires the entry of a password and user name/personnel number for authentication.
An employee standing in front of a locked door can open it via the "door opening" function of the app on his smartphone. In this case, the smartphone establishes an online connection to the access control system. All of the doors the employee is allowed to use are shown on his/her display. He/she simply selects a door and gains access to the building – without the use of a credential.
In addition to the eVayo Mobile application for time & attendance recording and access control, there is also the aptiQ app from the industrial group Ingersoll Rand (to which Interflex belongs) that follows the total access management approach and promises controlled access – without the use of a credential.
Ingersoll Rand offers a suitable solution for every security need. The international company is thus constantly faced with the challenge of being open and flexible to the requirements of customers. One example is the aptiQ application, which is also open to other systems. It is based on NFC technology and can be controlled via a cloud-based system where the user authenticates himself/herself. This app is currently in the proof of concept stage. When this phase is completed, employee credentials can be replaced and access control systems can be more flexibly designed.
