Whereas the versions BA, BB, and BC are screwed into pipelines, the new BF series are sandwiched between flanges. Thus, installation in pipelines, particularly those with large nominal values, is simplified and the application possibilities increase. Flow limiters from Meister Stroemungstechnik are used wherever a constant flow is necessary, or the flow must be limited, regardless of pressure fluctuations in the system. Included also are applications which must conserve water and energy through consumption-based limits.
The materials used and the robust construction make these flow limiters very versatile. Since the limiters of the BF series are made entirely of stainless steel, they are suitable for hot water and a variety of water-like media. The flow is controlled through a combination of elements consisting of a flexible, star-shaped control element and a rigid measuring cone. Increasing pressure difference presses the control element into the cone. This decreases the effective cross-section so that the flow remains constant.
When the pressure difference decreases to the original value, the control element returns to its starting position. The limiters of the BF series are available in nominal sizes from DN 40 to DN 100. The regulating pressure range of the limiter is between 2 and 10 bar. The smallest controllable standard flow rate currently is at 1 l/min, the largest is 420 l/min. Special models are available on request. In addition to numerous industrial applications, the flow limiters may be employed in other areas such as water treatment, irrigation, cooling systems, car washes, swimming pools, hotels and military installations.
