The company Manner has developed a new high-precision torque measuring sensor for torque and power output monitoring at the power take-off shaft (PTO) in agricultural vehicles. The sensor is particularly compact and fits directly onto the PTO. It has the degree of protection IP65 and is completely maintenance-free. The stator is mounted on the shaft and is secured against rotation by means of a chain. In addition to measuring torque levels up to 5 kNm, the system also provides high-resolution speed monitoring using 180 pulses per revolution.
The digital telemetric transmission technology guarantees 100 percent interference-free transmission of the measuring signal. Characteristic of the strain gauge based sensor is its high accuracy down to 0.1% of the measuring range, its extremely low temperature drift in the range -35 to +125°C as well as its compact construction (length = 50 mm). The measuring signal can be monitored either as an analogue signal (e.g. 0 to ±10 Volt) and/or digitally via USB or CAN Bus.
