For more than 10 years, Norit Südmo has set the pace in quality and reliability with its D-series of double seat valves due to a strong focus on a continuous process of improvement.
In keeping with this spotlight on innovation, Norit Südmo will unveil the next generation of double seat valves at the 2009 Drinktec. The DSV Complete series has all of the options processers need for a sustainable range of economical and technically up-to-date models.
Norit Südmo’s DSV Complete series has all of the great features that have made our valves the technology of choice for processors worldwide with upgrades that will provide even better performance for the future. As always, to meet specific application requirements, processors can choose between low-leak and leakage-free valves. Leakage-free valves are always advisable where you do not want product to escape during valve transition.
For our new design we reworked our full range of valves in regard to seal location from the housing to seat seals and redesigned them with the latest state-of-the-art technology. Improved guides, reduced bearing surfaces, intelligent installation spaces and special contours for seals provide enormous valve operation benefits. For instance, when the seal material swells from temperature, cleaning chemicals or incompatible liquids we have found ways to compensate for this in the valve design. This provides improved service life and maximum process reliability. Additionally, the whole DSV Complete line can be used at an operational pressure of 10 bar (145 psi).
To round out our models, Norit Südmo is also featuring stem cleaning for Double Seat valves, which cleans the stem automatically with seat lifting. External cleaning-in-place (CIP) of the stem and leakage cavity is still available for demanding processes such as fast-drying, crystallizing or hardening products.
For safety concerns much attention was given to the ease of servicing the valve. As a result, the main spring of the actuator was caged to make it safe and maintenance-free. We continue to build the housings from solid bar stock and retained the housing dimensions so that you can extend systems or include the new DSV Complete valves in existing installations to guarantee sustainability.
With its extremely long housing service life, the DSV Complete series still has the Quality for Generation that Norit Südmo is known for.
Along with the DSV Complete, the latest generation decentralized control unit, the IntelliTop 2.0, was developed in tandem with the valve series so that it is ideally aligned with the valve requirements. Decentralized control via a directly attached control head for mix proof valves provides sustainability for the entire process.
This development focused on a modular design, a reliable and intelligent programmable path measuring system and easy operation during system integration and day-to-day handling.
This development is based on a new type of exterior that is not only functionally, but also visually very attractive and it meets all the latest industrial engineering criteria for food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries. The centrally located all-round position display, that was an essential feature of the IntelliTop 1.0, was also built into the design. Norit Südmo offers its customers the option of assigning green, yellow and red to each individual position on the process valve.
The heart of the IntelliTop 2.0 is the ability to track up to three switching positions for the process valve. The three programmable buttons assure fast and reliable process start-up. An indicator with the visual position display confirms this process while the closed path measuring system acts as a protective tube for preventing the danger of injury when the control head is open and protects the inner workings when setting up the head.

The IntelliTop 2.0 can be used just as a sensor or as a sensor-actuator system with one to three solenoid valves selected with very high air performance in mind. They provide quick switching times with process valves that have large volume requirements. There is the option of controlling the air flow of each solenoid valve for fine adjustment of opening and closing times of the process valve.
The IntelliTop 2.0 meets the requirements for state-of-the-art automation and the control top’s modular flexibility allows for both retrofitting to past designs and updating to future technologies in automated process systems.
