Shimadzu, a leading supplier of analytical instrumentation, presents its new multidimensional MDGC-2010 System. The MDGC-2010 System can be employed for such different applications as environmental, food or drug analysis. It is especially suited for difficult separations of target compounds in complex matrices. The multidimensional system with multiple Heart-Cut technology was developed to transfer (“cut”) co-eluting peaks to a second column. This makes quantitative determination very easy. The MDGC-2010 sets a new standard in multidimensional gas chromatography. It uses the well known Deans Switch Technology in a completely new way. By intelligent use of different restrictors the pressure at the end of the first column remains constant whether a cut was performed or not. The user can perform as many heart-cuts as he needs without retention time shifts of the following compounds - a real breakthrough.

Method development on the MDGC-2010 System is very easy, it only needs 3 steps:

1. run a standard of target compounds
2. graphical determination of the cut times using the specially developed MDGCsolution software
3. run the sample
