Voice alarms in compliance with DIN VDE 0833-4 / Fire detection technology / Voice Alarm System

Bringing together what belongs together:

Voice alarms in compliance with DIN VDE 0833-4

Whether in hotels, airports or theatres, shopping centers, sports or multipurpose facilities, or also in restaurants, schools, hospitals or care facilities - everywhere people come together in great numbers, building structures become increasingly more complex. Connected with this is the risk that danger situations will arise; but there is also an increase in awareness for the necessity to protect the life of the people that much more.

The new DIN VDE 0833-4, which came into effect in September 2007, gave an important push for this development. More clearly than ever, this new norm connects the voice alarm system with the fire alarm system and it contains clear guidelines for alarm signaling equipment which is bringing together what belongs together: Voice alarms in compliance with DIN VDE 0833-4 by fire alarm systems. Both construction regulations and fire department requirements are taken into consideration here. The result: More safety for the people, more planning reliability for architects, consultants and installers of voice alarm systems. Reliable application guidelines are now available to them which also describe installation and acceptance criteria.

Fire detection technology and evacuation will therefore continue growing closer and closer together in the future, and innovative voice alarm systems will become the central element here. Networked with the fire alarm system, they give direct instructions in the case of fire, telling people what to do via stored voice announcements and guaranteeing that the people are warned in time and that the building is evacuated quickly and in a controlled manner. In everyday operation these installations are also suitable for piping in music, for transmitting specific information or for advertising announcements.

Many fascinating advantages: With the new VARIODYN® D1 product line with our new product line for progressive voice alarms, we are pleased to present to you a comprehensive product portfolio for a wide range of applications. It meets all requirements of the new standards and thus also fulfills the highest requirements for optimal safety.

The VARIODYN® D1 Compact Voice Alarm System
A complete system in one housing with only three rack units. Designed for installations with up to 18 call circles, it is especially suitable for schools, office buildings and workshops, is easy to configure and is user-friendly.

The VARIODYN® D1 Compact is equipped with
► Three independent 300 W power amplifiers and a 300 W backup amplifier
► A large voice memory, up to 176 sec. of storage time, divisible into 16 different texts
► Four inputs for the connection of communication units
► Clear indicator panels and many more functions

Digital Output Module DOM4-8, DOM4-24
The DOM is the central control element of the VARIODYN® D1. It provides interfaces to all input/output groups, administers and monitors the loudspeaker circuits. A system configuration of any size can be realized by networking several DOMs via Ethernet. The modules are equipped with four independent audio channels, so that up to eight switched loudspeaker circuits can be operated with the DOM4-8 and up to 24 with the DOM4-24.

Power Amplifier 2XV200, 2XV 00, 2XV 00
The power amplifiers have two independent channels and 100 V toroidal core output transformers. They are compatible with the VARIODYN® system and are controlled and monitored by the DOM4-8 or DOM4-24 digital output modules. An integrated electronic fuse protects against thermal overloading and short-circuiting at the output, the fan is temperature-controlled.

System Communication Unit SCU
The digital audio storage for the VARIODYN® D1 public address system enables several audio data streams to be simultaneously incorporated and reproduced. The connection to other modules is realized via Ethernet and permanently monitored. The storage of alarms and announcements for evacuations occurs on nonvolatile flash memory with a capacity of approx. two hours. Additional audio signals such as announcements, advertising texts and so forth are stored on a hard disk with a capacity of approx. 150 hours.

Universal Interface Module UIM
As an interface module of the VARIODYN® D1 public address system, this interface facilitates the connection of two analogous audio inputs, two analogous audio outputs and 48 control contacts. Monitoring of short-circuits and interruptions can be activated for eight of the control contacts.

Main Switch Unit MSU
The Main Switch Unit MSU safeguards the current supply of all VARIODYN® D1 components that are incorporated in cabinets. A laptop can be additionally connected via a plug for local or network-wide maintenance.

Digital Fire Detection Communication Unit DCSF12/1
Loudspeaker zones can be selected and voice announcements or different acoustic signals and/or alarms can be played via the communication unit. It is connected via a standard CAT5 cable to a free DAL bus of the DOM. All audio and control signals are transmitted digitally.

Digital Communication Unit DCS1 /2
The digital communication units DCS15 and DCS2 with the digital key module DKM18 are used to select loudspeaker circuits as well as for the playing of voice announcements or different gongs and/or alarms. The connection is carried out as with the DCSF12/1.
