Glatt introduced the first CIP-able spray nozzle for fluid bed and spouted bed applications at ACHEMA 2006
H – Hygienic design is the first requirement for clean in place. The HSF-nozzle of Glatt has only smooth and round surfaces in contact with product and atomization air. At no point product can stick in a gap or to a ridge. After flushing both lines – liquid and atomization air – with cleaning water, it will run off easily, no sink will keep residues.
S – Safety is crucial to fluid bed and spouted bed processes, since many powders form potentially explosive dust-air mixtures. Up to now, there is a risk when changing the spray nozzle during the process, because the processing chamber needs to be opened. The new nozzle can remain in the equipment, even when changing the nozzle, since only the liquid insert needs to be changed. The outer shaft stays in the equipment; the only opening is the small hole where the atomization air enters the process – too small to allow any explosion to propagate.
F – Fixed installation means very easy handling. The nozzle can simply always stay in the equipment. If required for inspection of the nozzle can be easily and quickly dismantled. It consists of only five parts which are screwed together.
