RapidRoll 600 is rapid, with an opening speed of up to 3.0 m/s whilst also being very safe. All component parts of the door, from the materials to the control system and safety devices, are designed to cope with high stresses for long periods. With a taut and modern design the door also fits in well in environments where aesthetics are important. The door’s side frames are manufactured in anodised aluminium, and in the standard design the door curtain is manufactured from Rolltex, a hardwearing, resistant polyester fabric. The standard colours of the door curtain are grey, blue and orange, but it can also be ordered in other colours.
RapidRoll 600 is extremely suitable for openings with heavy traffic levels and tough situations, outside and inside. The door is weather resistant and copes with extreme loads. It has a wind resistance in accordance with EN 12424, class 3, which corresponds to wind speeds of up to hurricane force.
- RapidRoll 600 meets industry’s needs in respect of functionality, safety, reliability and a long service life. The door also has an attractive design, something which is becoming more and more important. “Our modular product concept also means that we can easily adapt each door to the customers’ varying requirements”, said Mikael Bengtsson, the project manager in charge of the 600 project.
Albany Door Systems’ modular concept starts from the basic product design. Then an optimal solution is specifically tailored for each customer. This concept includes the new RapidRoll 600 door as well as other doors in the company’s product portfolio.
Safe construction
RapidRoll 600 has been designed to cope with tough environments. The door has an integrated counterbalancing and extension system, originally developed by the Swedish door specialist Nomafa, which has been part of Albany Door Systems since 1972. The system ensures safe opening and closing in which the door curtain is stretched taut at all times when rolling. The door curtain is manufactured from Rolltex, a very rigid but light polyester fabric, manufactured by Albany Door Systems. Rolltex is extremely durable and withstands heavy knocks without being damaged.
The door top roll consists of a steel tube with welded ends. The shafts are supported on brackets at both ends. The door curtain is riveted to the top roll and sealed against the side frames. Anodised aluminium sections control the door curtain during opening and closing. The side frames are also fitted with hinges which make them easy to open for inspection and maintenance. An anodised sheet profile also provides an aesthetically pleasing enclosure of the door top roll. During a power failure, the motor brake can be disengaged and the door automatically opens by up to two metres.
