Security and communication for people, buildings and assets

SCHNEIDER INTERCOM GmbH, Erkrath, realises complex, integrative security and communication solutions. These include integrated speech, emergency call, monitoring and control systems as well as evacuation solutions for industrial plants, administrative buildings, trade fair sites, hospitals, airports, prisons, multi-storey car parks and office units amongst others.

In the communication and security sector, the name SCHNEIDER INTERCOM is associated with the networking concept Intercom over IP (IoIP®) more than any other company. With good reason: the Erkrath-based enterprise is one of the first companies to have realised the IoIP® networking concept for all sectors where security, communication and incident management play a crucial role. It is also one of the first companies to present IoIP® hardware.

A connection between an IP network and intercom terminals such as speech stations, touchscreens and control desks can be created via freely cascading interface cards G7-DSP-IP-8 and G2-DSP-IP-4. 96 terminals can be connected to a server unit and more than 5 000 IP addresses managed via cascading. ET 901 is nevertheless the frontend for the server cards and functions as a micro-distributor. All analogue and digital intercom stations are converted to IoIP® terminals at the same time. This applies both for terminals which are already in use as well as for new installations. Beside the latest IP technology for intercom solutions, SCHNEIDER INTERCOM also offers other innovative communication and security systems for the most diverse application fields.

Products from professionals for professionals

Example 1: Intercom terminals for industrial use. The two-wire DSP terminals have all the requirements for use in industry both internally and externally. They are also open-duplex® compatible thanks to DSP technology. It is therefore possible to talk and listen simultaneously on both sides of the speech station. That enables a natural talk situation. Information can be transferred without feedback and with a speech quality of seven kilohertz, even during hands-free talking with loud background noises, as is usual in industry.

Example 2: The modular control desk system EE 380. The digital control centre speech station is enabled for connecting up to four speed dialling button modules and works with three-colour LED lamps for displaying call requests and input messages as well as for displaying the status of outputs.

Example 3: A universal gateway for connecting different building automation solutions. This universal interface proves to have a real “talent for languages”, supporting no less than 70 different communication protocols (e.g. BACnet, M-BUS, MODBUS, EIB). As a result, almost all technical building systems can be integrated in the intercom system, while individual functions (e.g. blinds, light and heating control) can be controlled via the user interface of the intercom terminals.

Example 4: Multifunctional intercom panels designed to be freely configurable and individually adjustable. The interactive touchscreens come with intercom, control and display functions. They can process graphics, audio and video information while utilising integrated telephone books for up to 2 000 participants. That makes them ideally suitable as frontends for multimedia systems, access monitoring and control centre applications as well as for optimising the visitor management or as an orientation guide.

Example 5: Vandal-proof modular cell solutions for communication in prisons. In addition to a generic interface which allows different versions, the terminals also have a mobile phone finder and door status display, presence switch as well as cell call with prison officer alarm amongst other features. The solution can, of course, be integrated in the prison communication system.

Example 6: EVACom by SCHNEIDER INTERCOM. The evacuation concept with dynamic acoustic escape route control, which leads the escaping persons reliably away from the danger source to a safe location. In the event of an evacuation, the EVACom system marks the optimum escape routes acoustically. People react very clearly and explicitly to audio instructions without misunderstanding. At the same time intercom terminals, that are carried out as EVACom-stations, can check alarm messages (e.g. form smoke detection systems) for relevance of alarming or evacuation (code entry as spurious alarm). This way unnecessary evacuations can be prevented and the rescue time in emergency cases can be minimized.

Summary: When it comes to all application areas and requirements, SCHNEIDER INTERCOM can draw from a complete portfolio for individual customer solutions. All systems can be customised to the requirements of their users without any problem and are fitted out for the future. Indeed, they not only have technology of the latest generation, but can easily be extended.
